GiGi's AdventuresI came to have a party, Open up the Bacardi... November 27 Whoa!!I'm felling a little sad right now... Today, I found out one of my friend's dad passed away last Wednesday due to a stroke. The last time I saw my friend's dad, he was waving at me from behind my friend on webcam, being silly. Not that I was close to my friend's dad or anything. But my friend's dad was fighting fit, still working. Now all of a sudden, he's been cut down. Makes you put things into perspective doesn't it? Thinking of you and your family Nick... November 09 Countdown...The countdown is on to my first ever bellydance gig in a Greek restaurant. I have performed in public before, but that was only in front of my fellow bellydancers...student perfomance nights, end of year concerts. Now it's going to be as part of a stage show in a Greek restaurant, as close to a professional gig I have ever come so far. A fellow bellydancer puts on a monthly stage show in a Greek restaurant and invites other bellydancers to perform a number. This time round she invited me to be in it, and I jumped at the chance. But, baby steps first. I will be performing as a duo with my housemate so I ease myself into this business. Then if all goes well, I will do a solo routine. So we are going to perform a hiphop bellydance fusion. We start off with Missy Elliot, slide into Justin Timberlake, then we end with a traditional bellydance drum solo. We have 1 week and 2 days left til showtime... ...the Countdown has begun... ...wish me luck!! October 22 Ahhhh...Sydney...I came, I went, I saw... Sydney was fantastic fun!! I was there Thurs night to Sun morning...not a long time, but did so much the weekend has really whizzed by. I went to Sydney to visit my bro who is working there...and also meet up with some friends that I have there...also met some of my bro's Sydney mates. Weekend was full of drinking, lots of sights, more drinking, and not a whole lot of sleeping. Went round to Paddington, Darling Harbour, Circular Quay, Sydney Opera House, Paddy's Market, China Town, the Fish Markets, and Bondi. Headed to swanky Icebergs in Bondi for a few drinks, the Establishment Bar in downtown Sydney, Salsbury Hotel in Stanmore, and Kuleta's and Marlborough Hotel both in Newtown. I missed my flight this morning because I slept in. So I had to catch a later one...hehehehehe... Bad things about Sydney...it is in some ways more expensive than Melbourne. The traffic and roads are crap!! The roads wind all over the place and it can be dis-orientating for a visitor, not like Melbourne which is set out like a grid...you could never get lost in Melbourne...hehehehehe... But it feels like I had a mini holiday. Would definitely do it all over again. Will hopefully head back to Sydney soon, maybe in the next month or so. Now it's back to reality and work this week... October 11 YAY Me!!!Just wanted to share... I go to this Turkish Language website as part of my Turkish studies. There I can ask grammar questions to Turkish speakers, practice my Turkish, get translations done (English - Turkish and Turkish - English), even help out others with translations. I have done a few translations, but most of them were 95% correct...I'm still learning. But today I did a translation, Turkish - English, and I got it 100% correct! With that, one of the Turkish speakers posted to me a message saying: Well Done. Welcome to the Translators Club! Not that there is a "translators club" as such...but I was sooo happy that my Turkish studies are finally paying off. I still have more to learn, but this is definitely a positive. Oh I am so happy!! Today...Depressed... just am... just one of them days... don't wanna talk bout it. Edit 11/10/2006: Defintely feeling better now. I bounce back, I'm a survivor, it makes me stronger. I am blessed with so many friends who look out for me here. My 2 best friends were immediately on the phone trying to cheer me up. They did good. |
